A trip to a quilt shop

On Friday my mom and I went to a quilt shop that is an hour away. Quilted Cottage.  We don't get there very often since it is so far away and in an unconvenient place to get to.  It is a great shop though! They were having a Valentine's week special.  We each drew a heart out of a basket and opened it up.  Inside was our sale.  I got 20% off all patterns and my mom got 20% off all fabric! She had a gift certificate to use too!

These are the patterns I bought with the discount I got.

I scored these great fabrics by Sweetwater from the clearance section.  I don't know what they will become so I bought 2 yards of each.

I also got this "candy bar".  It is Oasis by 3 Sisters.  I may make a pillow with this.

After the quilt shop we went to Joann's to get sale essentials.  And then to Sam's Club.  We needed large size food items.

Sunday Sling bag

Today's sewing was this Sunday Sling Reversible Bag.  The pattern is from Amy Butler.

I made this bag for my Mother-in-law.  She is knitting me a scarf so I thought I would make her a bag.  It is big enough for her to carry her knitting in.  It is made from the same Ambrosia fabric as another bag I made.  It was well liked so I have used it a lot.  I would like to make myself one but in the smaller size.  I will need to have a bag to carry my stuff in to the shower at quilt retreat.

Sewing things

I have been sewing like crazy on some days and other days I have no desire to sew.  Two weeks ago during the blizzard I sewed for 2 days straight.  I loved it!  Last week I had no desire to  sew for several days.  So I cleaned  out the bookcases.  I got rid of boxes of books and bags of old magazines.  I just got boxes to organize my quilt magazines.  I did not throw those away.  This past weekend I got the sewing itch again and got these two quilt tops done.
This quilt is not quite all put together in this picture.  It is made with Blush by Basic Grey.

This is made with a charm pack and a jelly roll of Oz.

Both of those fabric lines are older ones.  But I finally got the quilts made!  The Oz quilt will be donated to a kids camp where they are collecting quilts for all the kids that will attend.

Also this past weekend I made this pillow.
It is made from a Moda candy bar.  I cut the bars in half so I had 2.5" squares.  Then I followed this tutorial.  Four Patch Pillow Tutorial

On Monday and Tuesday of this week I sewed these two purses.  They have been cut out and waiting for a month.
Left purse is for an aunt in Florida.  The right one is for a friend in Kentucky.
On Monday I also got in a trip to my local quilt shop.  On Tuesday I gave blood.  Today I have to get taxes done.  Busy, busy, busy.  But also sewing projects to do.

Happy sewing!

I love wool appliqué

This is the Savannah Wool Table Runner from The Noble Wife. I love doing wool applique!  No finished edges to deal with.  This will go to the quilt shop and when they are done with it I get to keep it.

Wall Quilt done

I finished the top of this small quilt today.  It is the background for the wool snowman I showed earlier.  Each month there is a different wool center to make for it.  This is for the Quilt shop.  I want to make a second one for me.

Here it is with the snowman in the center.

These patterns are by "Under the Garden Moon".  They are called "As Time Goes By".

Cosmo bag

Here is the Cosmo Bay I made from Amy Butler's book Style Stitches.

The bag is made with fabric from the Ambrosia collection from Robert Kaufman.

Here is a picture of the inside.  I love the pink!

I used my new sewing machine to sew tis bag and it worked wonderfully!

Onto the next project.

My new toy!!!

Here is what I bought today!

I am so excited about it.  It is the first machine I bought that was not a floor model.  I got to take this one out of the box!  I sold my Janome 300E embroidery machine and traded in my Husqvarna  Rose sewing/embroidery machine.  I got to keep my Husqvarna 500 for travel or for Breanna to use.

The machine I bought is Janome 6600P.  The P is for professional.  It has a professional grade motor in it and it sews 1000 stitches a minute.  I can't even see that fast!  It has an amazing amount of features on it.  I am still learing about it.

Monthly Bag Challenge

These are the fabrics I chose for the Cosmo Bag.

The top fabric will be the main fabric, the middle fabric will be the trim, and the bottom fabric will be the lining.  I cut all the pieces out today and the trillion interfacing pieces.  I am using Decor Bond for the interfacing.  The pattern called for Shape Flex but my shop did not have that.  But with this being such a large bag I thing the extra stiffness from the Decor Bond will be perfect.  I do have the outside of the bag sewn together and it stands up by itself!  This bag will be so cute!

Monthly Bag Challenge

Check this out over at JemJam.  I am going to try to do this.  I have my fabric picked out for the first month's bag. She is using Amy Butler's book Style Stitches.  I got the book for Christmas so this will get me to make the bags in the book.

Today's project

I think this snowman is so cute.  He is the center for a wall hanging that has a different middle for each month.  I have not made the quilt base this goes on.  I will soon.  I just wanted to show you this snowman.

Here I am. Some projects I have done.

This is the project I did at the Bay SHore Quilt retreat in October.  It is all done in wools with wool thread and by hand.  Pattern by Under the Garden Moon.

Margo purse pattern by Lazy Girl designs.  I have made 5 of these and have 2 more cut out.

I am so proud of this wall hanging.  It is at the Backstreet Quilt shop in Elkton.
